Not there haven't been things to say, I've just forgotten to tell the world!!

Been listening to some really good music and having some really good times (thumbs up!!) but far too many to tell all. So I pledge from now to try and make regular blogs....try is the word to watch out for there lol

I have been thinking about this and it is obviously the first option ( leaving the second option open for independent and cult cinema), even better for the worst certificate invented - 12A - because you get parents and kids obligated to go together.
Talking of blockbusters, I saw Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and I'm not sure whether it was really good or if I was just caught up in the Bayhem of it all.
The plot, as a friend recently pointed out to me, is actually rather weak and certain parts really farfetched. Maybe it's my bias towards the characters ,actors/actresses and the whole franchise that keeps me fascinated with this action packed (nearly overloaded) sequel.

But it is certain that the first is better, and the second a good follow on. Although they have left if open for a third installment I'm not sure if I'm as excited about the idea of that as I was about hte 2nd one.

WHen I saw Role Models , there were some laugh out loud moments but this was hilarious!

I was laughing throughout and they are the kind of jokes that won't get old, hence my determination to pre-order that on dvd.

Highly recommended - to all!

I say could because I don't use it anymore and so I don't really know if you can still do that.
And why is that such as good thing?
Well, at the moment the only online chat I use is facebook messenger which is rather temperamental. In terms of chat, facebook is so behind - correct me if I am wrong and you can actually look back at conversations, but the amount of hilarious conversations I have had or times I have needed to call someone up on what they have said...these things roll by as I can't revel in the memories.
On one hand you could say that I really should stop living in the past and remeniscing over every situation I get myself into, but that is just the way I am. So brushing that aside shouldn't facebook give me the option to look back further than the day before?
Thinking about it, it's probably better that I can't look these things up - test my memory!

 Comments

Waltz with Bashir

I just watched Waltz with Bashir and I can't seem to get it out of my head. First of all it's an amazing film which I would recommend to everyone.

Somehow it has left me with this kind of stillness. It was coming to the end and I found myself hoping for a final sentence to end it and finalise everything but I knew it wouldn't happen.
Whenever I am telling myself to keep it together I always start blinking and I have been doing so for the last 30 mins.

Absolutely amazing.

It opens your eyes to the sorts of things people go through, and to anyone who is thinking why animation: it is totally appropriate and you have to see it to understand why. I could attempt some kind of explanation but I'm sure I wouldn't do it justice.

Just watch it, 5/5 without a doubt.

I just came back from sunny Jamaica, but one thing has just struck me about the whole airport debarcle. I know realise why it is called baggage Claim.

Of course you are meant to collect your luggage therefore claiming it as yours - but that is not the real claiming going on! I went to the conveyor belt and stood a fair distance back - meaning 3 to 4 steps - so that I could see my bag in the distance and have enough time to drag it off - filled with goodies of course! However some people find it necessary to block the path and Claim a front row standing postion! So 3 people -one by one mind you - came and stood directly in front of me as if I were not trying to look for luggage, like it was my pasttime to stand and look at other peoples suitcases! I was not amused, and resolved to barge past them if my cases came by. However I thought better of this and moved away and started the whole process again, only this time everytime someone got a footstep in front of my I huffed loud enough for a steam train and moved my one suitcase as if I were incredibly laboured. This didn't stop them, didn't make me feel any better either, but luckily my last suitcase took so long that by the time it came out most of the crowd had left and my original waiting area - complete with breathing space - was free again!

 Comments

Mars Bars

I got a pack if 3 mars bars for free yesterday - i think it was yesterday! And I suddenly realised that they are quite nice. You know how you go through phases of eating things, well I liked Mars as a young child then decided they were too sweet and thick for my liking. Then the other night I was chomping my way through a big pack of Mars Planets and enjoying them more and more. Now I am an official fan.
One thing I wasn't too impressed with was the fact that when I went into a newsagent (for the first time in like 3 weeks) and they were selling jelly snakes (yes the long ones with yellow bellies!!) the man tried to charge me 35p for it! I remember when they are 15p!!
Those were the days

lol
And no I didn't buy it, that would ruin the principle, plus I'd propbably decide I didn't like them anymore. ha ha

I haven't really found out about many films on the horizon. However on a standard trip to IMDB.com to investigate the fit new intern from ER (Julian Morris, and yes he is English as I thought) I sat a very intruiging picture. Terrence Howard and Channing Tatum - now that is a film that would need to be seen, as said film is called Fighting.
Okay so by the title it seems like a bit of a high concept outing but from the trailer it has a lot of heart and of course with these two main men it will be engaging. So my list of 2009 films to watch gets ever longer, if only by one, and when my Empire arrives (any day now fingers crossed) the list will inevitably grow!
Here is the link to the trailer let me know what you think.
The reason for my sudden outcry is that I have just finished reliving it on 4OD and once again realise how incredible it was, is and should continue to be!! Even though so many of the characters are rather annoying thats what makes it like an actual college, and a good programme always needs someone to hate right? Plus it ended on such a cliff hanger! By the end - I don't want to give it away for all of you who are about to download and watch it (DO IT NOWWWWW) - you are really loving the main characters and rooting for them. It would be a shaame if there wasn't a continuation or commemoration of the event.
Last night I finally got to see what everyone was raving about - and I do see why.
Forgetting the huge use of CGI for a moment, the acting was really good, especially Lena Headey as the Queen of Sparta and Rodrigo Santoro as Xerxes. They were both great characters and really convincing. I'm not discounting Gerard Butler's career boosting performance as King Leonidas, because he was inspiring and seemed to fill the role as if it were his own story but when Xerxes first appeared the way he was presented was awe - inspriring and fitting for someone who considers themselves a God. Also compared to Leonidas he seemed to tower over him - Makes me wonder how tall Rodrigo is in real life.
The production made it a truly worthy representation of the epic battle that was, and the writing was spot on.
I would recommend it to most people - unless you have any problems seeing severed bodies, corruption, loinclothes or gratuitous beards.......

 Comments

Roses are Red...

There is this great track that I just keep on hearing on the radio and in shops - can u believe - and its one of those great revival tracks from the old skool that need to be shared.

It was the sickest show I have ever been to, they were amazing and the atmosphere was so great. There were stall selling stuff and the supporting Dj - Iration Steppa - was keeping the felling old school JA with his reggae mixes. The supporting act - East Park Reggae Collective - were on point and did this calypso/reggae version of Ain't No Sunshine which had everyone bopping. Although some of the crowd managed to turn it into a mini mosh everyone was enjoying themselves and thats what really counts. It was well worth the money and for them to come all the way from Jamaica felt like I was privileged.
I really wanted to buy one of those military khaki jackets (£15 not bad eh?) or a patch to put on my clothes ( those stripy ones) but I knew they were overpriced at £4 each and I could get them elsewhere for like half of that!
I was in such an old school state that whole night - thought I was from a different generation lol - I need to get some of those choons so I can jam in my room .

 Comments

End of an Era

Ok so it's not really the end of an era, just the end of the first term at uni!! But since I've not been home for 12 and a half weeks it's seems like a huge thing. Great that I will be reunited with my friends and family but how odd will it be not to see people that I have seen everyday for the last 3 months??
I just finished my essay as well!! Rather happy with myself - like its not something that needed to be done anyway- but the fact that its done ontime and there will be no all-nighter (which all my mates have been pulling but me? I LOVE my sleep and I don't get enough already) so I consider that success.
Another jokes thing on the horizon - fancy dress... wait for it.... as a BOY! That might be on tonight, and I know your wondering what on earth could this entail. Well the plan is baggy jeans sagging with boxers, baggy tshirt and a hat. Not exactly hard you may think but we need to make it look like fancy dress and not just our style so that we actually get into the club, so I tried looking for transfer tattoo's (however sad that seems, it would look cool..maybe lol) but I couldn't find any. Plus I don't own any tshirts baggy enough so I may be knocking on my housemates door - come to think of it the boys I live with don't really wear loose stuff, o well I still need a belt!
If anyone has heard of Dj Stylus just to big him up as I'm listening to a mix by him at the moment and it is preventing me from keeping still at the mo e.g. mini skanking hand movements with shoudlers too! lol

It is always lots of fun doing this, especially when you suggest something, no one remembers then all of a sudden the light switches on and then "OOHHHHHH" and you all sing a bit of the theme tune or remember the key parts.Of course what follows is the mandatory internet search for any remnants of your favourite childhood shows, half of which are either on bad youtube versions or not around at all - others(cough power rangers cough) have mutated into wierder versions.
Here are a few (that I can remember) that we thought of, and a few that just popped into my head.
Demon Headmaster
Tots TV
Rosie and Jim
The Wild Thornberrys
Aquila
Round the Twist
Bernards Watch
The Queens Nose
Fun House
Jungle Run
Albert the 5th Musketeer
Noah and Saskia (if anyone can find any version of this pls pls pls let me kno)
Get Your Own Back
Arthur
My Parents are Aliens
Rugrats
Xena Warrior Princess
Conan the Barbarian
The Tribe
Dangermouse
Babar

Feel free to comment with some more or your own - remember I'm a 90s child so I may not rememeber some of the older ones, unless they are classics of course like Bagpuss, Moomins, The Clangers.. gosh I should have put those on the list lol

Having only jsut heard his new album (140 Grime Street) I am now a fully fledged fan of UK Grime. Before this I was just a casual listener, barely knowing the names of the artists on the scene but still knowing the tracks. However this album has made me want to download (sorry did I say download? I meant buy...cough cough) some grime so I can have the bassline rocking me on the way to uni.
Apart from the fact that Kano has a sick flow, every track is produced so well and has had me ignoring my books for the past hour and driven me to write this blog in praise. The whistlin on Huntin we will go has me shaking my head in disbelief each time(disbelief at the cleverness and timing of the whole thing), and as soon as I heard Anywhere we go my speakers were on the max and I had those gun fingers in the air!!
Unfortunately I missed Kano on tour with his last album (which was and still is the bomb) so hopefully I will catch this one - even if it means me running home to London from the north for what I'm sure will be the best gig I will attend this year..so when is it bruv??

Makes me think I'm missing out by not watching his shows. However part of that reason is beacuse I don't have a tv with me at uni and viod of tv licence as well!
But no excuses I have 4OD and will be getting my weekly fix of Mr Wan on his new show.
I am officially a convert. <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

Not just for any student but a MUSIC student.
I don't know many people, let alone music students, who have one favourite piece of music. Of course the title isn't implying that you will have only one favourite piece but that you need to choose one to profess about.
So once I decided on a piece I get stuck trying to describe it in proper terms excluding the use of words like sweet, hot, good and choon. You know when the song it just so good you can't really explain why you like it so much, words kind of escape the greatness of it and you go back to year 2 english and say its just great.
I imagine that once I get past this barrier and begin to unravel my love for said tune (ignoring the fact that I should be able to do this anyway since I am a music student) I won't be able to fit it into 500 words!
Now who said that music was an easy subject?

Well it is true - at Leeds anyway - that it is crazy packed in the union tryna go to the intro fairs with all the societies, lots of free stuff ( i mean LOTS of free stuff - I got free dominos!) and parties every night. I know this is only monday but which band was it that said "Things.....can only get better!"

But eventually we have cracked it so there is a way through all the madness.
All this was just so I could easily move music between the computers but I think using a USB would have been quicker - still now its been done it will work forever - right??
Since I have read some new found info I have learnt that it used to be blue for girls and pink for boys!! Personally I love blue so maybe there is something in that!
Truth is I just don't like pink, so no offence to others who do.
Soz

First of all I celebrated the life of my late cousin at her memorial and jammed with all the fam in north london. Then sunday - the hectic one - I went to the visa 2012 party. It was really good, I got to see Matt Baker and Samantha (I think thats her name she was presenting), Phillip Idowu and Lil Phillip who won the young musician of the year (he is a G!! on trombone if u don't know find out - bbc.co.uk), Micheal Phelps and Myleene Klass (even though I'm not that crazy about her). Then there were the live musicians - finalists from last choir standing, McFly( who I have to say were really good even though there was no coverage of the fit bass player), Will Young, Katherine Jenkins (not that I knew who she was before this), the Feeling and Sophie Ellis Bextor.
Then in the evening I went to Cafe de Paris for a friends birthday bash. The first Dj wasn't rocking my boat, he played some old skool choons but not for the club like Billie Jean, Peaches and Cream and Wifey (hardly dance alongs apart from fake moonwalks and stuff) but the main Dj was really good and got the party started. He also managed to leave my ears ringing for the last 18hrs.
So for functioning on little sleep I think I still managed to have a great time and compensated by sleeping every two hours today. I was even planning to rock up to carnival today but that was never gonna happen after I crawled intro bed at 4.30 this morning.
Still lots of partying to come I hope as uni approaches.
Now for me to concentrate on fitting in all the things that I still want to do in London before departing for my second city - Leeds, such as movie mania in Camden, seeing Biffy Clyro in HMV and a few sinema trips (roll on Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express).

He was smiling to himself probably thinking "I'm so macho I can wear pink".
But that is just rubbish. The only reason boys wear pink is to avoid appearing homophobic and to try to score points with girls. Doesn't work for me obviously.
Baby Pink only looks good on a small amount of people a small amount of the time. Hopefully people will learn this soon.

1. Shia LaBeouf
2. Guy Burnett
3. Heath Ledger (r.i.p)
4. Ryan Giggs
5. Weezy F Baby (plz say the baby!)
6. James Lafferty (long live Nayley)
7. Ville Valo
8. David Krumholtz

 Comments

Shizzle - I love that show

Now that I am officially lovin Snoops new album Ego Trippin' - if you don't know get to know!!! I can't seem to stop saying shizzle. Namely shizzlesticks which sounds wierd and since Snoop is actually cool he doesn't say that but I do cos I am not that cool and proud of it.
The show that I speak of in the title can be the one and only HOLLYOAKS!!!!!
I am not bigging it up becasue of current of storylines but because of current realisations..... today I was thinking if I had to watch one show only for the next 10yrs it would be Hollyoaks. It provides me with daily second life experiences (meaning I feel like I know them and they are my neighbours - well not neighbours but not fam either something between i think)and joy. Plus with the bad influence of one of my friends (one zippstarr!!) I went on the spoilers forum and got very excited about up and coming Hollyoaks late nighters and the return of CRAIG DEAN/GUY BURNETT!!!!!!1 Yes you know whats coming... the drool pause

droooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool...(pause for breathing and moping up the pool of droool)...drooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool.

I can't say how much I just enjoyed coining the phrase pool of droool - but back on track people need to give in to the greatness that lies within Hollyoaks Village or else they will be sorry <img src="/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif" alt=">:-[" class="middle" border="0">

The food just looks bad doesn't it and the pseudo-seductive voice which is meant to make food sexy really doesn't work for me!
So when I found these parodies it just seems so fitting - as well as hilarious

"VOICE: This isn't just a raspberry pavlova. This is a pavlova with a meringue base made from free-range eggs, separated, and then beaten ... beaten with birch twigs, until they bleed.

Topped with fresh cream, whipped, ... whipped while chained in a dungeon until it begs for mercy.

And raspberries, plucked by hand and pulped beneath the heel of an 8-inch stiletto.

This isn't just food - this is S & M food!"

"Delicious genetically modified honey roast ham.... reared in a lab in Guildford, yours for free when you steal one of our bottles of sherry, which you can also use as a delicious inorganic anti -freeze........"

yes I'm still laughing! They are not just any patronising adverts... they are slowly killing me

Its associted to film for one, and picks on the little things which is always funny!!! I will copy and paste for your convenience - but when you realise what great, funny and intelligent people read empire (like me and the author of the side splittingly truthful blog below) you will take out a subscription ( and if your quick you will get a Clint Eastwood DVD Collection which I would't mind owning but hey when you're subscriber you don't mind!).

"Today’s whinge is brought to you in association with The Truth. The Truth (note the capitals) is a commodity in short supply both on screen and off these days but it’s the former that’s currently stuck in my craw. You see, when I sit down in that darkened auditorium to watch a movie, whether I acknowledge it or not I'm entering into a tacit agreement with the filmmaker. They agree to dazzle me with glorious sights of awe and wonder (or drab mediocrity, depending on the choice of film) and in exchange I agree to suspend my cynical disbelief and refrain from pointing out the obvious factual deviations – that, for example, there’s no such thing as a giant sea creature, let alone ones with the wherewithal to single out and vandalise major tourist attractions. Generally speaking this is an arrangement that works quite well. There are, however, moments when this glorious symbiosis breaks down entirely and one of the parties (most often me) gets so worked out that they try to burn the entire cinema down around them using only the power of their indignation.

Allow me to me clarify: I’m not talking about times when a character goes back in time or when an obvious hottie is supposed to come across as ugly just because she’s wearing glasses and a pair of dungarees. No, what really makes me want to hurl dead animals at people is when they take liberties with the little things.

They’re only details, I know, but they’re what grounds a film with the audience, what allows us to connect with events on screen. We all know there’s no such thing as zombie strippers but we can accept (and enjoy) their appearance in a film as long as you don’t also try to tell us that a circle is square or that Pepsi tastes like Coke. The worst examples of this (and most likely to prompt a killing spree from geeks such as myself) are those involving technology. I can only assume that no Hollywood writer has ever used a computer, let alone taken time to find out what they are and how they work. It’s lazy writing at its most unforgivable (something I recognise) and needs to stop. Examples of this most egregious of crimes are legion but here are a few of the most upsetting off the top of my head:

1. Unspeakably grainy VHS footage of that looks like it was taken on a dark night, through thick fog, possibly from another planet with Vaseline smeared on the lens is miraculously enhanced to give a high resolution, crystal clear image of the subject. What devilry is this? Where is this extra detail coming from? Anyone who’s tried to increase the resolution of a tiny picture will know that the result most often looks like some kind of impressionist work of art. In movies, though, it lets you read number plates from 8 miles away and identify a hidden witness by reconstructing a reflection of their crotch on the side of a crisp packet. Utter bloody nonsense.

2. If we in the office are still to find a way to make Macs and PCs play nicely without splurging weird characters all over the place, how exactly are we to believe that they can happily interface with alien technology? In Independence Day Jeff Goldblum not only purports to hook an iBook up to an alien mothership but writes a virus on it that brings down the whole alien fleet. Madness! Even assuming the ship had a free network port - or some kind of unsecured xeno wi-fi - and their entire technology was actually built on Apple software, you think they don’t have alien firewalls? Or anti-virus software? If Dr Norton can come up with the concept, you’d think a galaxy-conquering super race would be equally on the ball.

3. The Internet in general. Where to even start? Well, we could begin with Mission: Impossible where Tom Cruise manages to get real-time streaming video in full screen resolution using Netscape 3.0! Failing that why not look at The Net, a film entirely about the Internet but with no understanding of what it is or how it works. Click a symbol? In the corner of a website? Oh please. It’s called a link and the worst it can do is download unwanted malware or send you to some pop-up-infested porn site.

And while we’re kicking The Net, what’s with all that ‘we’ll delete every record you ever existed’ rubbish? If it takes the government six months to realise you’ve paid off your student loan, do we really believe they’re going to notice if someone deletes your birth certificate? The home office can only dream of that level of efficiency.

4. Hacking. Cinematically, this practice is portrayed as a gauntlet of tricksy countermeasures that need to be disarmed on the fly, virtual doors that need to be opened and weird graphical interfaces that draw you into a test of reflexes and nerve. Not, in fact, the reality of: write script, run script, go and play World of Warcraft.

I know, I know, all of this is trivial in the grand scheme of things but it just bothers me - small-minded pedant that I am. And I haven’t even dredged up the likes of Terminator 2, when he hacks into ATMs with some bloody card on a wire. Or Jurassic Park, when Lex identifies some ridiculous 3D file manager as ‘Unix’. Or Die Hard 4.0 in its entirety. Press escape and your computer will explode? No it bloody won’t. Though I might."

So I registered and made my character (the most fun bit so far) and then I was stuck doing endless boring battles just to rack up points! I must say the robots are pretty cool, I bought some nice weapons and I can blast some of them out of the waters but I want it to get exciting already! I guess I have to stick with it. Unlike neopets which just sets you up in the deep end with a pet to look after - I remember that site first taught me the word satiated!!

Also quite sad I won't be able to help The Hulks first week sales but I won't be able to go and see it until 23rd!! boo hoo.
I love the way that everyone suddenly wants the mint royale track cos the britains got talent boy danced to it (this is what happens to you when you listen to the radio for over 2 hours you get to know trivial information that I wouldn't have known otherwise)I knew that was a tune from the time it was on the car advert and still couldn't find it to download!!!
Speaking of songs and albums ( i guess I wasn't talking about that but hey!) I think Madonna's album should be good (anyone actualy listened to it?) and
Tha Carter III is the BOMB (tic tic)
Yes it deserves its own line because he gone and done it again - its a G flex apart from one song but he is allowed one that I don't like - Greatest rapper Alive I swear
